Pink Buffalo Spore Print

Strain Origin: A variety discovered by John Allen in a rice field in Thailand, a man named John “Mushroom John” Allen found the Pink Buffalo genetic of psilocybin mushrooms. A writer known for his works (and lifelong obsession with) fungi of all kinds, legend has it that he discovered the strain in a field where a sacred pink buffalo had been seen. This is an excellent psilocybe cubensis strain to study. In the wild, as Mushroom John found it in that field, it produces mid-to large-sized fruits, multiple flushes can occur if the humidity is very high. The locals in Thailand say its good luck to see a pink buffalo and if it happens you will have a good day.

Cap: 45-125mm in diameter, hemispheric to convex expanding to broadly convex to nearly plane with age. Dark red maturing to golden brown. Surface viscid with apparent gelatinous layer when very wet, soon smooth from drying. Fine fibrillose veil remnants when young that soon disappear. Flesh white soon bruises bluish green.

Stem: 90-150+ mm in length. Typically equal, sometimes slightly enlarged at base. Yellowish reflective sheen, bruising bluish, hollow. Partial veil membranous leaving a persistent membranous annulus that is well dusted with purplish brown spores even before tearing away from the cap.

Gills: Attachment adnate to adnexed. Grayish-purple coloration in young fruit bodies becoming nearly black in maturity.

Spores: Dark purple-brown, subellipsoid, 10-12 by 8 micrometres on 4-spored basidia
